چکیده
Parkinson's disease is a chronic, progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by rigidity, bradykinesia, tremors and postural instability. Although a conventional exercise program is available for the patients suffering from Parkinson's disease but still it is not successful to provide global improvement to the patients. The purpose of the present study was to find the efficacy of forced bicycle exercise program in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. A total of 4 patients were assigned with three, 1-hour exercise sessions per week for 8 weeks on an ergometer bicycle. The patients were made to perform forced exercise on the ergometer bicycle with a pedalling rate of 80-90 repetitions per minute. There was an improvement in all the components of Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS)and Modified HoehnYahr scaleafter the 8 weeks intervention in all the patients. Background: Parkinson's disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease characterized by mainly four cardinal signs bradykinesia rigidity , tremors and postural instability. There is a progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra which further projects into the striatum.

متن کاملP #2 Health education and promotion may improve ADL status and self- efficacy in clients with Parkinson’s disease
Research has shown that factors such as exercise, lifestyle, social and spousal support, and self-efficacy affect the outcomes of numerous long-term diseases other than Parkinson’s. Research also has demonstrated that health education can influence many of these factors. Neurologists Montgomery and colleagues (1994) hypothesized that a health education and promotion program for patients with Pa...

Objective: Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disorders which is characterized by tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia and postural disturbances. Studies indicate that grape juice and exercise may have beneficial effects on neurodegenerative disorders. Therefore, in the present study, we evaluated the effects of red grape juice (GJ) together with treadmill running on...

Hemophilia is an X chromosome-linked inherited bleeding disorder. Frequent intra- articular and intra-muscular haemorrhage in severe haemophiliacs can cause significant disability. In order to resolve a simple bleeding in a 20-kilogram child, some 500 IV of factor VIII is usually required. The cost of this replacement therapy is enormous, especially for less wealthy countries. Vigorous exercise...
